In 2001 my mother suggested taking an art class at a frame shop/gallery in Shakopee, MN. This was to be my first “formal” art education. All my life previous I had doodled, sketched and dabbled in art. Drawing and sketching being the easiest form of art while in studying other subjects in school. My mother felt I could do more. What are mom’s for? Through the guidance of my two teachers I experience the world of color. My first painting was a hit.
I have taken a portrait class at the Minnesota River School of Fine Art. Thus concludes my formal art education. After finishing high school in New Prague, MN I went to college at South Dakota State University. There I obtained a degree in Animal Science in 1999. Since that time I worked as a warehouse supervisor, sales assistant, accounting assistant and various part time jobs. I must support my art habit somehow. More often than not I finish a personal project and like it too much to sell. Someday I will get prints made and now you can order your own through this site.
I have always lived in and loved the country. This is reflected in all of my work, from plants and animals to the icons of the farm. Some of the barns I have painted are gone now. I feel proud to have made them into more than just a memory but a family heirloom.
